The DE Razor Beginners Guide
The double edged razor came into popularity in the early 1900’s. Also known as “DE razors” or “safety razors”.
Double-edge razors use a single razor blade with two sharp sides. A guard protects the users facial skin from all but the edge of the razor blade, as opposed to a straight razor, which has no guard, hence the name “safety razor”.
Three reasons to start using a Double-Edge Razor
1. Affordability: Replacement blades are more affordable than current multi-blade razors, in most cases over $10 less than most multi blade cartridges. Coupled with the advantage of having two sides to each blade, offering the potential to extend each blades lifespan with proper use. This makes DE Shaving a much more affordable option.
2. Better Access: In many cases, the blade’s slimmer design enables improved access and removal of hair in tough-to-reach areas like under the nose and neck crevices.
3. Closeness: Many feel these blades provide a closer and smoother shave than multi-blade counterparts. It is also widely recognized that DE razors provide a much more comfortable shave that multi blade razors, reducing the chance of razor burn and skin irritation.
