The How To Guide For Shaving with a DE Razor

How to Shave with a DE Razor

  • Soak your brush in steaming hot water to soften the bristles (Brushes help lift hairs, which means a closer shave)

  • Rinse your face with hot water (The hot temperature of the water will open your pores and soften the stubble on your face)

  • Shake some of the water out of the brush so that it is damp rather than dripping wet. Using the damp brush, lather your shave soap. apply the lather in circular motions. Lather until the soap is thick on your skin (The thicker the better)

  • Make the first pass with your razor. Keep it angled at about 30 degrees. Make short, light strokes with the grain of your beard (Let the weight of your razor do the work for you)

  • An important thing to keep in mind when shaving with the DE is to be soft-handed. Obviously no slicing or side-to-side motion!

  • Stretch The Skin: double edge razors do their best work on skin that is held taut. So, when taking passes on the cheeks or neck, use that free hand to stretch these areas. In doing so, you will insure a smooth comfortable shave without irritating your skin.

  • It is recommended doing 1-2 passes with the grain of your beard. Finish with one light pass against the grain for perfect smoothness (Be careful when going against the grain as it can cause ingrown hair)

  • Remember practice makes perfect.
